Half a Saba
Direction & Animation
Half a Saba is an animated short rooted in personal family history. I directed the film as a way of using animation to approach memory, identity and family through a story that is both intimate and accessible.
The Film
The project grew from a personal story and from my interest in the way family history changes as it is remembered and retold. Animation gave me the freedom to move between memory, interpretation and visual storytelling without trying to recreate the past literally.
Direction & Animation
I directed the project and developed its animated language around the emotional needs of the story. The challenge was to keep the film personal without making it closed or private, allowing an individual family story to connect with audiences who brought their own histories to it.
From Personal Story to Audience
After completion, the film developed a life beyond the production itself. It screened at more than 50 festivals internationally, bringing a deeply personal project into conversations with audiences in different cultural contexts.
