Childhood's End

Director & Animator

2017

Childhood’s End is a 1:20 animated short about a child playing with a toy gun and the moment when play and war overlap. Created during my first animation course, it processes experiences I carried after leaving Gaza in 2014.

THE CHALLENGE

This was one of my first attempts to translate personal experience into animation. I wanted to transform recurring memories of military service into something visual without recreating them literally. Animation removed some of the emotional weight while preserving the experience underneath.

WHAT I DID

✦ Developed the story
✦ Directed the film
✦ Designed the visual approach
✦ Animated the complete short
✦ Edited the film
✦ Translated a personal experience into a narrative
